Voices from WTO in Hong Kong

The Sixth WTO Ministerial Conference was held in Hong Kong, China, 13-18 December 2005. In general, ministerial conferences are the WTO's highest decision-making body, meeting at least once every two years and providing political direction for the organization. Thousands of people concerned about the role WTO plays in world trade descended on Hong Kong to voice their demands for fair trade under the slogan"No Deal". The conference ended up with no deal, but only because leading countries could not agree. The WTO has a profound power over the well being of billions of people across the globe based solely on business and maximised profit making.

These interviews were commissioned by the Guardian Unlimited and were produced in Hong Kong and made live on-line during the conference.
